Kait Eldridge, songwriter and front-person of the longstanding NYC/Seattle power-pop outfit Big Eyes and the scrappy New York punk-pop band Cheeky, will release her second solo album, Very Special People, on November 7th, 2025.

The album’s title is one Eldridge has carried with her since the early days of Big Eyes, and this new collection of songs finally felt like the right home for it. Written and recorded at home during the latter half of the pandemic, Very Special People leans into a ’90s singer-songwriter sensibility while retaining the bittersweet power-pop punch that has defined Eldridge’s music for more than fifteen years. This time, though, her sound stretches wider — weaving chamber pop, baroque interludes, and atmospheric synths into the driving hooks she’s known for.

Heavily influenced by late-era Elliott Smith, the record mirrors both a turbulent world and a period of personal transition. Unlike her debut solo album, The Dark Tower — a fully realized concept record — Very Special People follows a looser thread, tying together stories of people and memories held onto for too long. While tinged with melancholy, the album ultimately embodies release: letting go of the past to make space for something new.
